special fund launching / covid-19 response
These have been humbling and scary times for us all, and we hope you - wherever you are - and your loved ones have kept safe and sound. The ‘sound’ part has had its own relevance for us… as it has for hundreds of thousands of freelance musicians and others in the music industry, who watched their income disappear overnight during the course of the last 16 months. It’s going to be a while before the industry fully recovers. So two new ventures were set up to help by our founder, and we are delighted that we will be managing the grant process for them.
INtroducing DIUO - the ‘netflix’ of live streamed gigs
Created by musicians, for musicians, DIUO is a new platform for live streamed gigs, launching straight to Smart TVs in summer 2021. The platform has an ethical heart. 10% of profit will be going into a pot which Dosoco will be managing, and which will go straight out to help musicians in need via our online application process. We’ve streamlined our process during the last 7 years of grant giving, and it will be easy and straightforward to musicians & crews to apply. INtroducing MUSICMASKs
The second venture is MUSICMASKS. A online shop selling music designed face masks, with £2 from the sale of every mask coming to a same fund we’re managing for DIUO to help freelance musicians & sound crews struggling due to covid. There are some brilliant designs (see below) to keep every kind of music lover happy, the masks are usually delivered within 3-4 days, and there’s a real sense of pride wearing one knowing that you’re doing something tiny but impactful to help music keep going.
